Research

This page is a critical part of the user journey as users select and reject products based upon the the information available about those items in the product list.

First the top navbar…

  1. The cart is an important action in the user’s journey, however matching this with the 4th rule of the 10 JN usability Consistency and standards, on mobile apps people would expect to find this at the bottom navbar according to benchmarks. Additionally, people rely on one thumb to accomplish things on their mobiles.
  2. The listing page is a multi-actions page, which I could land on from different sources of the app, the back button is a clear indication for the user's mental models that this would talk them back to where they were. Additionally, the “X” would be used with an action, and that entire action is done on one screen. (Design for mental models

Second, categories & filters…

-The categories under the main section category are usually considered as a filter that can be merged into the filters section to keep it consistent across the different screens and variations. However, hiding the filters themselves behind a small icon is against the 6th rule Recognition rather than recall to minimize the user's memory load by making elements, actions, and options visible. This also has been shown as a result of the Airbnb A/B test experiment that has been done before for showing the important filters outside but, not too many as per this experiment. Additionally, adding some icons to the filters would make it stand out more and easily recognized by the user as per Google’s experiment as well as when they added icons to their search labels
